Making the decision to start podcasting was a terrifically bad idea for many reasons. I had no listenership, there was no market and quite frankly I had no idea what I was doing.
18 months later however, and I have built a loyal listenership in 100 countries around the world without spending a cent on advertising.
This is a classic example of how the media landscape is shifting towards on-demand mobile based content consumption and the combination of storytelling, marketing and innovation on podcasts is proving to be one of the most powerful forms of new media marketing.
The Power Hour @ RaizCorp
RaizCorp recently reached out to me and asked whether I’d be up for giving my keynote talk, The Big Red Button, to their entrepreneurs. I receive many requests from the business community to speak about what I have learnt in the process of building the Matt Brown Show into a global media platform but very rarely do I offer the talk for free (Usually I charge R20,000 for the keynote).
But given Raizcorp’s proud of history of being Africa’s most successful and established for-profit business incubator model (plus the fact that Allon Raiz has been on my show) I agreed to do it for free.
